Create and use app passwords
If you're using two-step confirmation and you get an "Incorrect password" error when you sign in, you may be able to use an app password instead.
-
Open your Google account.
-
Select Security.
-
Under "Sign in to Google," select App passwords. You may be required to sign in. If this option is not available, it may be for the following reasons:
-
Two-step confirmation is not set up for your account.
-
Two-step confirmation is set up only for security keys.
-
You are using an account through your workplace, educational institution, or other organization.
-
You have enabled the advanced security program.
-
-
Click Select App at the bottom and select the appropriate app, then > select Device. Then select the appropriate device and then > Create.
-
Follow the instructions to enter the app password. The app password is the 16-digit code in the yellow bar on your device.
-
Click Done.
Tip: You don't need to remember app passwords because you usually only need to enter them once per app or device.
