Preface
In contrast to the earlier, generic skill, Google Assistant also offers a native skill specifically native skill designed for smart home applications. This is designed in such a way that it controls native devices, i.e. you can control native digitalSTROM devices (lighting, shading) directly via the Skill by voice. No scenarios are required for this.
digitalSTROM integrates this Skill via dS-Cloud (function available from 29.11.2022).
In addition, the new Skill simplifies the voice control by omitting the addition "...say digitalstrom..." is omitted.
The actual voice recognition is completely in the hands of Google and will be continuously further developed on an ongoing basis (moreover, it is an adapting, self-learning system).
Therefore, it is not possible to specify a list of standard commands; the linguistic combinations are almost limitless.
Connect with digitalSTROM
Please follow these simple steps to connect your digitalSTROM system with Google Assistant:
- Open the Google Home app (App Store or Play Store) and select Skills.
- Select 'Settings'.
- Select 'Compatible with Google devices'.
- Search for 'digitalSTROM' in the following search (currently not yet available for all customers, see Google distribution).
- Link accounts (follow instructions in the "Home" app).
- Assign dS devices to rooms.
-
- Room assignment is suggested automatically, based on the affiliations configured in the dSS configured affiliations
- Room assignment can also be changed manually by the customer
If you have purchased a Google Assistant in the USA, you may need to change the country settings for your Google Assistant must be changed.
- Select my Content and Devices in your Google Account.
- Select Settings.
- Under Country Settings, change the country to Germany.
Execute commands and user-defined actions
The Google Assistant can be used to control lights, shades or other devices networked with digitalSTROM networked devices can be controlled. Simple commands can be called up such as "Hey Google, switch on the switch on the light in the living room." can be called up.
User-defined actions usually consist of several commands that form a complete sequence - such as "Hey Google, execute get up."
Depending on the settings you have defined for these custom actions, they will be called. Example: "Hey Google, execute get up."
- The blinds open in all rooms
- The lights in the bathroom and kitchen turn on
If you want to turn off all the lights in the house, you should use a formulation like this
" Hey Google, turn off all the lights." or " Hey Google, turn off the lights in the whole house"
It is important to always specify the room name in which the command should be executed. You should also make sure that you always use the room names that are as they appear in the other digitalSTROM apps.
Enables the execution of any number of UDA's (User Defined Actions), i.e. user defined actions in the dS system. I.e., all UDA's created in the dSS are available for the voice control. Please note that the voice control is exclusively limited to UDA's; the scene types ApplicationZoneScenario and DeviceScenario are not required and are therefore not available. With UDA's you can also be used to control non-native devices such as heating etc.
Please ensure that UDA designations are unambiguous and easily distinguishable in terms of language. This applied to the former Generic Skill as well as to the new Native Skill. In general user experience is improved if the commands are worded precisely and %-. values are used: "Hey Google, open the blinds 50%" or "Hey Google, close the blinds in the living room to 100%".
