What happens when resetting the server?
The process described here resets the network settings to DHCP, the server will then request a new IP address from the DHCP server / router. The local password for the dssadmin user is also reset.
- User name: dssadmin
- Password: dssadmin
No server settings are lost! After initiating the reset procedure the server restarts automatically. This process can take a few minutes.
The reset process differs depending on the server type:
Server dSS11 and dSS11-1GB
The server LED is also a button. Therefore you can press on the LED! To reset the server, please press and hold the LED button for 15 seconds until it starts flashing blue. After releasing the button, the process is initiated.
Server dSS20 and dSS22
There is a circle below the LED of the server, this is a button. To reset the server, please press and hold this button for 15 seconds until the LED starts flashing blue. After releasing the button, the process is initiated.
Server dSS11-E and dSS-IP
These servers do not have a button, therefore you need to prepare a USB stick at first. The USB stick must be formatted using FAT32.
First, create an empty text file in a file explorer with the name reset_dSS.txt (please also pay attention to upper and lower case) and copy it into the root directory of the USB stick. Insert the USB stick into one of the USB ports of the running server. The reset process begins immediately.
