For example, a coloured light can be connected via a GE-UMV200 or via DALI. Even a Philips HUE coloured bulb is ideal for colour gradients. Of course, any number of coloured lights can participate in one colour sequence at the same time.
The colour gradient siply consists of different, consequtively called mood scenes at intervals of one minute each. Two things have to be done:
- Configure mood scenes for the different colours.
- Create Scene Responder sweeper for the colour gradient.
To create a colour gradient we use the extended mood scenes, in this example mood scenes 11 - 14, to change through four different colours. Of course you can also add other mood scenes (and therefore colours) or use other mood scenes, eg. 41 - 44.
The colour gradient is started by calling up mood scene 11 and remains active until the light is being switched off. Of course you could also define other "termination conditions", but "light off" is simple and practical. The following example uses the room "bathroom".
Configure mood scenes appropriately
To configure mood scenes, we access the digitalSTROM configurator and open tab "activities". Above the list of activities, click on "Show all available mood scenes" (look for the bulb symbol with 3 dots). Now open "bathroom", click on "light" and
- right mouse cloick on mood scene 11 and select "open",
- set the devices to the desired colours and
- save the mood scenes,
- right mouse click on each device and select "Edit Activity Settings" and then click on "Advanced Settings" and set the transition time to "slow" and
- Save.
Perform this procedure exactly the same way for the mood scenes 12, 13 and 14, of course, each with different colours.
Create Scene Responder automatism
Now we can start the Scene Responder and create a new automatism. The name is "Bathroom Gradient". The trigger is
- Activity in room –> Bathroom –> Light –> Mood Scene 11 (check mark for "show all mood scenes").
No delay time is entered below. On the page "Activities to perform", the following settings are made:
- Activity in room –> Bathroom –> Light –> Mood Scene 12 (check mark for "show all mood scenes").
Now click on "+ New Activity" and add the next activity:
- Activity in room –> Bathroom –> Light –> Mood Scene 13 (check mark for "show all activities").
Again click on "+ New Activity" and add the next two activities:
- Activity in room –> Bathroom –> Light –> Mood Scene 14 (check mark for "show all activities").
- Activity in room –> Bathroom –> Light –> Mood Scene 11 (check mark for "show all activities").
Then please click on "Show All Activities" and enter these delay times (recommendation: start from the bottom):
- Mood Scene 11 after 4 minutes
- Mood Scene 14 after 3 minutes
- Mood Scene 13 after 2 minutes
- Mood Scene 12 after 1 minute
This is how it should look like:
Then proceed to tab "Conditions" and add a new condition:
- Room condition –> Bathroomd –> Light –> Light is switched on
After saving, the entry should look as follows:
So we have programmed a "lop", a process that keeps calling itself. Therefore, the termination condition is very important: When the light is switched off, the loop ends. (Note: A condition is rechecked for delay activity before each activity).
Here we go
Now you may test. But how can a colour gradient bei called up? There are different possibilities to do so:
- Assign mood scenes 10 - 14 to a spare room push-button in the tab "device properties / advanced settings". The colour gradient can be started and stopped by pressing the push-button once, or
- Create user-defined activty for calling up mood scene 11. This activity can be started via smartphone, or
- Create a Scene Responder automatism with the trigger
Activity in room –> Bathroom –> Light –> Mood scene 4 and the activity to be performed Activity in room –> Bathroom –> Light –> Mood scene 11 (check mark for "show all mood scenes"). Then the colour gradient can be started by pressing any push-button in the room for four times.
Have fun experimenting.
The colour gradient stops immediately when the light is being switched off. However, the Scene Responder automatism continues to run until mood scene 11 is called up again. Only when the light is off at this time, the automatism stops. This can be slightly confusing if you want to switch from gradient light back to normal light, since you have to keep the light switched off entirely for up to four minutes. If you want to turn off the colour gradient faster, you could either create a user-defined state and use it as a condition (instead of "light is on") as well as start (trigger is this new state; activity is mood scene 11) - or you divide the automatism into four units (different automatisms) and take as a condition the specific mood scene (eg. 14 is only called up when 13 is currently active).
Another note: If you want to reprogramme mood scene 11 and do so in the digitalSTROM configuration, you will inevitably start the autmatic colour gradient, too. It is therefore useful to first deactivate the automatism in the Scene Responder (remove checkmark in front of the entry) and reset the checkmark after reprogramming.
