Update the connected dSS (e.g. dSS11-1GB) and then create a backup. If it is no longer possible to update the dSS or create a backup, you can download the last automatically created backup1 from the cloud. To do this, open the my.digitalSTROM portal on the Internet.
Please open the my.digitalSTROM app on the configurator2 and disconnect your dSS from the logged-in account (log out).
Switch off the current dSS (via circuit breaker) and disconnect the power supply.
Disconnect/unplug the dS485 bus or the terminal block.
Remove the dSS (and the corresponding power supply).
Install the new dSS (e.g. dSS20) and connect the power supply. ! IMPORTANT ! Do not connect the dS485 bus yet!
Combinations as follows require appropriate changes:
dSS11-1GB server as a bridge and connected to the dSS11-IP: replace every device by a dSS20.
Several dSS11-1GB connected as bridge plus the dSS11-IP: replace every dSS11 configured as bridge by the same number of dSS20 and configure one of them as master.
Switch on the power respectively the dSS and wait approx. two minutes for the dSS to start up.
Connect the dSS to your network and ensure that the dSS is given an IP address and access to the Internet3.
Connect on your PC (with your browser) to the following address ("dss.local" 4) to open the configurator of the dSS.
Install the apps that were previously installed in dSS11
Open the system settings and update the dSS.
After the update (and reloading the configurator), open the my.digitalSTROM app on the configurator2.
Connect to a my.digitalSTROM account. Please note that the password of the digitalSTROM Server still needs to be changed. The new server is delivered with the default password.
Then load the previously created backup onto the new dSS. If you are asked whether you want to restore the my.digitalSTROM account, click "no".
Once the structure of the previous dSS has been restored, you can switch off the dSS and now connect the dS485 bus.
Switch the dSS on again and wait until all devices have been read in correctly5.
Now you can use the dSS again as usual.
Automatic backup must be activated.
To be found on the start page of the configurator (Apps section).
Make sure that DHCP in your network is activated and no ports are blocked.
Since some browsers and networks prevent/block name resolution („dss.local“ in an IP address), you might need to call the configurator by entering the IP address directly.
Depending on installation size, this might take up to 30 minutes.
